How to Root Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge
If you are a Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge owners and looking for the tips about rooting it, please keep reading on this article. In this post we want to give you a little guide on how to root your Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
Before rooting your Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones, here is a very important notes that:
- At present, this guide works on T-Mobile or International versions only.
- This guide requires a Windows computer.
- Before beginning, make sure to backup anything you are worried about losing it.
- Rooting the phone can disable two secure features: Samsung KNOX and Samsung Pay.
How To Root Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge
- Download and Install the Samsung USB Drivers.
- Go to Settings > About Phone and write down your model number.
- Go to this link, locate your model number and click download.
- Download the root package and save it to your desktop.
- Extract the AutoRoot .zip file.
- Right click the Odin .exe and run it as administrator.
- Go to Settings > About Phone and continuously tap on Build Number until it tells you are a developer.
- Go to Settings > Developer Options and check on USB Debugging.
- Plug in your phone via USB. This will let the proper drivers install before continuing then unplug it again.
- Turn off the phone and turn on again by holding down power, volume down, and home simultaneously until it gives you a blue screen.
- Then tap Volume Up to continue.
- Next, Plug the phone in via USB again.
- In Odin, click on AP and select the .tar.md5 file from inside the extracted AutoRoot folder.
- Now click Start.
- When it reboots you should be presented with your home screen and you’ll see the Superuser icon in your app drawer if it all worked.

Note: If you get stuck at the Samsung logo, please follow these steps below:
- Hold down the Volume down, Power, and Home at the same time until it goes back into Odin mode.
- Follow Step 3 on the above guide and now download the G920T file (the file for the regular Galaxy S6) then extract it to your desktop.
- In Odin, click on AP and select the .tar.md5 file from inside the latest extracted AutoRoot folder.
- Then click Start.
- Finished
Now, your smartphone should work and you will be presented with the Superuser icon like normal. Hope you enjoy!
