How to Root Samsung Galaxy S7 – We all know that Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have a two chipset versions, the Exynos developed by Samsung and the Snapdragon developed by Qualcomm.

In this post, we provide a tutorial how to root the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge for all Snapdragon versions. By rooting the phone, you will get full access to your device’s operating system to make changes to the file systems, and you can also install the applications easily. Please follow these steps below:

Important: Please remember this points before rooting

  • It is recommended to back-up all data before rooting the device.
  • You need a Windows computer.
  • Make sure your phone’s battery is full charged.
  • You must have ADB [download here] and Samsung USB driver [download here] installed on your computer with USB Debugging enabled on the device to transfer files between the phone and computer.
  • Make sure that secure boot in Settings > Lock Screen is disabled.

How to Root Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge (Snapdragon)

  1. Download Odin and save it to your computer.
  2. Download the rooted boot image for your device below and save it to your computer (Note: keep it as a .tar file, do not extract):
    All Galaxy S7 Versions (download here).
    All Galaxy S7 Edge Versions (download here).
  3. Extract the Odin and open it. extract-odin
  4. Turn off your phone and turn it back on by holding down Volume Down, Home and Power at the same time until you get to Download mode. download-mode
  5. Click on AP and then select the .tar file for your phone you’ve downloaded. select-tar-file
  6. Click Start and wait for the phone to flash and reboot. flash-reboot
  7. Download and extract the SuperSU and save it to your computer (link here).
  8. With your phone still plugged in, now double-click the root.bat file and wait for it to flash the device. flash-phone
  9. When it’s done, now open SuperSU on your phone.
    Important: Make sure to IGNORE if it asking you to update the binaries. The developer of SuperSU has said this might hurt the phone so just don’t update it.
